CURIO is a local-first app that works without a separate account, advertising, behavioral tracking, or a developer-operated server. This policy explains how CURIO handles your content and the choices available to you.
1. Content handled by the app
CURIO can store images you select or capture; cutout, photo, and thumbnail images derived from them; titles; short notes; half-star ratings and rating history; folders; sheets; canvas placement; and creation and modification dates. CURIO does not have its own account system and does not ask for your name, phone number, or address.
Location is optional. CURIO uses only location metadata from a photo you authorize or your current location when you allow it during capture. Current coordinates are reduced to approximate location at 0.01-degree precision before storage. CURIO does not attach your current location to older photos automatically. You can create records without Location access and remove a saved location from a record.
2. Photo processing and originals
Image downsampling, subject extraction, masking, and crop editing occur on your device. CURIO does not permanently copy a selected original photo into its library. It may store smaller derived images needed for display, sync, and sharing, along with a device-local photo reference. Camera originals are not saved to Photos automatically. Temporary input files are cleaned up after completion, cancellation, or expiration.
3. Storage and private iCloud
Your library starts on your device. If you choose the iCloud library and an Apple Account is available, records and smaller derived images can be stored in the CloudKit private database associated with your Apple Account and synced across devices. Private-database content is accessible only to that user by default, is not visible in the developer portal, and uses the user's iCloud storage quota.
If the Apple Account changes, CURIO does not automatically upload content from the previous account scope to the new account. Sync can be delayed or fail because of connectivity, storage, or Apple service conditions. Content from the previous account scope remains separate until you reopen that scope or explicitly move it.
4. Permissions
- Read Photos: Used when you select an image to import.
- Add to Photos: Used when you choose to save a finished image to Photos.
- Camera: Used when you choose to capture a new image.
- Location: Used when you request a current-location suggestion. Stored coordinates are reduced to approximate location.
- Notifications: Used to schedule local retrospective reminders after you opt in.
5. Sharing, saving to Photos, and ZIP backups
Sharing, saving to Photos, and ZIP export occur only after you select the corresponding action. Approximate location is off by default for image sharing. You choose the destination through the iOS system interface.
A CURIO ZIP contains versioned record metadata, smaller derived images, and an integrity manifest. Approximate location saved in a record may be included in its metadata. Original input images, credentials, device-local absolute paths, and Photos library references are excluded. ZIP files and copies shared to other apps are outside CURIO and must be managed and deleted at their destination.
6. Widgets and notifications
Widgets read only a regeneratable count and up to three small previews stored in the app group. Home Screen widgets may show collection images; the Lock Screen widget shows the item count. Retrospective reminders are scheduled locally on your device after permission is granted and can be disabled in Settings. CURIO does not operate a server for advertising or marketing notifications. Apple's silent notifications may be used for iCloud sync.
7. CURIO Pro and Apple services
Apple StoreKit processes CURIO Pro purchases and restoration. The operator does not receive your card number or Apple Account password. CURIO checks only Apple-verified purchase entitlement to unlock features. Apple's privacy policy applies to information Apple processes for iCloud and the App Store.
8. Retention and deletion
Records remain in the selected local or private iCloud library until you delete them. Individual deletion and Delete All Data immediately hide content and clean up derived images and content data. In a synced library, a minimal deletion marker may remain to prevent deleted content from returning from an offline device and may propagate asynchronously to other devices.
Delete All Data applies to the current library managed by CURIO, widget previews, and reminders. You must separately delete exported ZIP files, results saved to Photos, and copies sent to other apps. If the iCloud account has changed, content in the previous account's private scope must be managed by reopening that account scope.
9. Developer collection and third-party disclosure
CURIO does not include a developer-operated app server, advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or tracking SDK. It does not automatically send or sell your photos or records to the operator. Private iCloud features and StoreKit use Apple system services. If you choose another app in the system share sheet, the receiving service's privacy policy applies to that copy.
10. These public information pages
This privacy policy and support information are hosted on the Jelly Office website using Cloudflare. Earlier public Notion pages may also link here. We do not add a contact form, advertising, or a separate tracking tool. Hosting providers may process technical information such as IP address, device and browser information, and access logs to secure and operate their services. See the Jelly Office website privacy notice at https://thejellyoffice.com/privacy/.
11. Support inquiries
The email buttons on the support page and in the app open your email app and do not send a message automatically. If you choose to send, your sender address, the content you write, and files you attach are provided to the operator and the email providers you choose. CURIO does not automatically attach photos, location, or record titles to a support message.
- Information handled: Sender email address, inquiry content, and files you attach.
- Purpose: Reviewing and responding to the inquiry and resolving the reported issue.
- Retention: Used only as long as needed to handle the inquiry and deleted without undue delay after it is resolved. If retention is legally required, it is deleted after that period.
- Choice: You do not have to send an email, and choosing not to contact support does not affect the app's core features.
To request access to or deletion of a support inquiry you already sent, contact hello@thejellyoffice.com.
12. Children and policy changes
CURIO does not ask children for personal information or provide behaviorally targeted advertising. If CURIO's handling practices change, this page and its effective date will be updated first. Material changes will be communicated in the app or App Store description.
