thoughts! is a personal knowledge app. The app stores your notes, links, images, reminders, folders, tags, settings, and related metadata on your device by default. If you use iCloud sync or iCloud Drive export, Apple iCloud may store and sync that data under your Apple ID.
The developer does not operate a separate cloud database for thoughts! and does not sell personal data. If you select Gemini, content needed for AI organization may be sent through the developer-operated Vercel gateway to Google Gemini for processing.
Data The App Handles
thoughts! can process the following data when you choose to add it or when it is created through app features.
- Notes and text you type
- Links and web page metadata for links you save
- Images and files you attach
- Tags, folders, summaries, reminders, and calendar metadata created in the app
- App settings such as language, theme, sync preferences, and profile display settings
- Purchase status for thoughts! Pro, handled through Apple StoreKit
Where Data Is Stored
By default, your thoughts! data is stored locally on your device.
If you enable iCloud sync, text, metadata, and eligible image or file attachments may be stored in your private iCloud database after you explicitly approve the currently observed Apple ID. Attachment bytes are stored separately from Thought metadata as CKAsset records. Attachment transfer can be delayed or fail because of network, account, storage, or service conditions; a failed transfer does not replace a readable local original, and the app may ask you to retry synchronization. The free AI usage journal remains device-local and is not synchronized. iCloud Drive exports are written only when you use the export feature. Apple handles iCloud under its own terms and privacy policies.
AI Processing
AI organization uses the engine you select. Apple Intelligence uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models where available. If you select Gemini, content needed for organization—including note text, relevant link evidence, image OCR/labels, and folder/tag context—may be sent through the developer-operated Vercel gateway to Google Gemini for processing. The app does not ask you for an AI API key; the real Gemini API key remains server-side and is not stored in the app or IPA.
The gateway forwards the request and response and does not intentionally store or log note bodies, image evidence, prompts, or generated results. It may process limited operational metadata such as request time, response status, latency, and error category for reliability and abuse prevention. Google and Vercel process data under their applicable terms and privacy policies.
If the selected model is unavailable or a result cannot be used safely, deterministic local rules provide a fallback. The app does not silently send content to a different AI provider.
Generated titles, summaries, tags, folder suggestions, and reminders are editable and may be inaccurate. Review them before relying on them.
Link Analysis
When you save a link, the app may contact that website directly to fetch public metadata or readable page content. The website may receive ordinary network information such as your IP address and request headers under its own policy. If Gemini is selected, the resulting link evidence may be included in the AI organization request sent through the Vercel gateway as described above. The release app does not use the dormant Vercel link-evidence extraction client.
Photos, Camera, Files, And Calendar
thoughts! requests access only when you use related features.

- Camera: to take a photo and attach it to a Thought
- Files or share inputs: to import content you choose to save
- Calendar: to create or update calendar events for reminders when calendar sync is enabled
You can change these permissions in iOS Settings.
Analytics And Tracking
thoughts! does not use third-party advertising SDKs, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not sell personal data.
The app may keep local-only diagnostic or usage events, such as paywall views or quick capture activity, to drive in-app behavior. These records stay on the device unless you separately share diagnostics with the developer.
Purchases
thoughts! Pro monthly and yearly subscriptions and the optional lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through the App Store. The app unlocks Pro features only from a current verified StoreKit entitlement. Billing, refunds, and payment method data are handled by Apple.
Children
thoughts! is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Data Deletion
You can delete Thoughts, reminders, attachments, folders, and local app data from inside the app or by deleting the app from your device. Data synced to iCloud may also need to be removed from iCloud according to Apple's iCloud controls.
If you contact support about data deletion, the developer can only help with data the developer has received from you directly, such as support emails. The developer cannot access private on-device or iCloud app data that was never shared.
Changes
This policy may be updated as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected in this document and in App Store Connect before release.
